Week 2

The first 9 days have actually been really good. I have been surprised at what it feels like to have willpower, which I had convinced myself that I had none of. There was a moment on day 3, when I was confronted by a barrage of memories of things that I had demonstrated willpower through over the years - study was a great example of this. I was also busy remembering the times that I had become determined, set my mind to something, and gone for it with everything that I had. Here was this willpower that I was convinced didn't exist for me! A-ha!

So 5 kilos down and feeling just fine about the lack of food, lack of taste, revolting aftertastes in my mouth, bum-breath (got no other way to describe it), I am determined. Fixed on the goal. In 1Corinthians, 9:24 (NIV) the bible tells us to "fix our eyes on the prize. Did you know that in a race, all of the runners compete but only one gets the prize - fix your eyes on the prize". Although this verse is actually reminding us to fix our eyes on Jesus, who is the ultimate and only truly worthy prize, the best gold medal, I know that the other message is to stay on track and stay fixed on goals that we set that are also worthy of celebrating.

Eyes on the prize then...
